Sci Fi Depictions of Disability in the Future
Description: Most of our depictions of disability, illness, and injury in fiction either end with a "cure" or with the person dying. Few address the realities of long-term disabilities. What role does SF play in showing models of living with disability, and what role could it play, instead of just assuming there will be a future science fix for everything? We'll talk about our favorite fictional engagements with disability, and where we'd like to see more imaginative work done.
