L.J. Stanton
L.J. Stanton grew up in Calgary, Alberta. While no book was safe in her hands as a toddler (sorry Mom & Dad), she quickly learned to appreciate books as gateways to other worlds. A lover of stories first and foremost, Stanton lived and breathed anything that provided a sense of adventure whether it was books, movies, or music. The most formative of these stories being The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Phantom by Susan Kay, and The Prince of Nothing.
Growing up, she worked with a talented horseman to pursue her second love in life: horses. But without fail, the moment her seat hit the saddle her mind would be off daydreaming adventures (sorry Kent). When she wasn’t riding, Stanton was writing. Fiction, nonfiction, it didn’t matter as long as she could put words to paper (digital or physical). After graduating the University of Guelph, Stanton pursued a career training horses and teaching riding lessons. But after moving with her husband to California, Stanton decided to pursue her first love again, writing. They now live near Los Angeles with their Shiba Inu, Boo, and her service dog, Chekov. Her debut novel, The Dying Sun, was published June 2020. It won the NYC Big Book Fan Favourite in Fantasy, and was a finalist for the National Indie Excellence Award.
Stanton is a founding member of the Scribe’s Journey Podcast, a cohost of After The… talkshow on Twitch & Youtube, and can be found moderating The Official Patreon Creator Discord.
